The Georgia Chiropractic Association is deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Dr. Guy F. Riekeman this past weekend.
A passionate chiropractor, visionary leader, and devoted member of the GCA family, Dr. Riekeman dedicated more than five decades to advancing the chiropractic profession and uplifting the lives of countless students, alumni, and colleagues around the world.
A second-generation chiropractor, Dr. Riekeman served as President of Life University from 2004 to 2017. Throughout his longstanding involvement with the Georgia Chiropractic Association, he was a frequent conference presenter, a committed GCA-PAC contributor, and a spokesperson for the Opioid Relief Without Addiction campaign. His contributions to GCA’s membership and mission have left a lasting and meaningful impact.
Dr. Riekeman was known for his radiant smile, dynamic presence, and ability to inspire. His reputation drew chiropractors from across the state to his classroom. A master teacher of rights and responsibilities, he challenged others to live with integrity, courage, and a commitment to serving something greater than themselves.
He was also the author of Your Extraordinary Life, a reflection of his unwavering belief in living fully and helping others recognize and achieve the extraordinary within themselves. His message and presence inspired generations within the chiropractic community and far beyond. His personality was, at times, truly larger than life.
GCA Board of Directors Treasurer, Dr. Leana Kart, shared, “Chancellor Guy Riekeman lived an extraordinary life devoted to advancing chiropractic and uplifting humanity. A true world changer and trailblazer, he led with vision, love, and unwavering purpose. To all who knew him, he was a loyal friend and a compassionate soul—the embodiment of kindness and lasting purpose. Chiropractic will forever be shaped by his legacy and will never be the same without him.”
Dr. Riekeman is survived by his daughter, Dr. Vanessa Helfrich; his son-in-law, Dr. Jason Helfrich; his three grandsons, Dr. Tyler Helfrich (Juliana), Cael, and Alex; his sister, Dr. Cathy Riekeman; his beloved dog, Dante; and many dear friends across the globe.
A Celebration of Life honoring Dr. Riekeman will be held at Life University at a date to be determined. Details will be shared with GCA members as soon as they become available.
As we grieve this tremendous loss, we also honor and celebrate a leader who called each of us to give more, do more, love more, and serve with purpose—and to pursue our own extraordinary life in service to others.
